Bildt Sells Controversial Stocks
Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt has sold off his controversial 2000 shares in the energy company Vostok Nafta, which holds considerable interests in the Russian state-controlled natural gas giant Gazprom.
The move follows criticism from political scientists, editorial writers, and others that Bildt’s holdings could be a conflict of interest.
Bildt still holds 15,000 stock options in the company, which he says he will sell as soon as possible. According to press reports, the two year options can be sold at the earliest on December 3.
