Standarized Tests in Third Grade

Published onsdag 29 november 2006 kl 14.06

A new government proposal to implement earlier standardized testing is being met with both cheers and jeers.

The new minister in charge of schools, Jan Björklund, wants to start standardized testing at the end of third grade.

Björklund says the attitude has been to avoid having children who do poorly feel singled out, which means those who haven’t mastered a subject are allowed to continue to a higher grade anyway.
