How Neutral is Sweden?

Published onsdag 9 april 2008 kl 13.44
Cutting the ties to Swedish neutrality?

Neutrality and non-alignment have been a mantra of Swedish foreign policy for the past few hundred years. Non-alignment is so imbedded in the Swedish mentality that many Swedes can see no alternative to it, and the thought of joining NATO is extremely controversial in some areas.

But in practice, Sweden isn’t as non-aligned as many would like, and as Azariah Kiros reports, Swedish politicians have been reluctant in telling the naked truth to their electorate.
