Sexist Ad Complaints On The Up

Published fredag 23 januari 2009 kl 14.38

The number of complaints against sexist advertising have been rising, and consumer and industry groups have been taking notice.

For example, low budget airline Ryanair declared it a ”storm in a D-cup” when they were rapped over the knuckles for adverts and promotions that they’ve run in Sweden featuring stewardesses in bikinis.

When Liberal party Member of Parliament Birgitta Ohlsson took them to task over an advert featuring a woman in a sexed-up school uniform Ryanair dubbed her ”boring Birgitta”.
