Does Sharia Law Prevail in Rosengård?

Published fredag 13 mars 2009 kl 13.28
Norwegian politicians visit the Rosengård mosque

A visit by members of the Norwegian opposition Progress party to a suburb of Sweden’s southern city of Malmö with a large immigrant population has sparked major media interest and political debate in both countries.

The visit came at the invitation of Malmö’s city leaders - who were responding to public statements by the anti-immigrant Progress Party that recent outbreaks of violence in that suburb are results of residents following Moslem fundamentalist Sharia laws instead of Swedish laws - and warning that similar violence could also come to Norway.
