Video of Intrusion into Reporter’s Cabin

Swedish Radio News has released video from events in January when recording equipment was taken from an undercover reporter during a conference of the youth section of the anti-immigrant Sweden Democrat party.

The video comes from surveillance cameras on the Baltic ferry where the conference was held. It seems to show a woman party official impersonating the journalist to get the card key for the reporter’s cabin, then other party officials entering the cabin. Afterwards the recording equipment was missing.

The radio reportage includes a sound recording of Sweden Democrat officials trying to take the reporter’s bag from her.

A police investigation into the theft of the recording equipment has been closed, but the prosecutor who made that decision says she has never looked at the surveillance video.

The Sweden Democrats are currently hovering in the polls around the threshold for representation in parliament. They hold seats on many local councils around Sweden. (gw)
