Annika Östberg On The Way Back To Sweden
According to Swedish newspaper reports, Annika Östberg, Sweden’s longest serving prisoner, is being transfered from jail in California and is on her way back to Sweden.
A press spokesperson for the Corona women’s prison where she’s spent the last 28 years, told Aftonbladet that the Swede had been released ten days ago and is flying back to Sweden, where she’s expected to serve jail time here.
On Monday evening, the Swedish Foreign Office offered no comment.
Annika Östberg was sentenced to life imprisonment for her role in the murder of a restaurant owner and a police officer in California in 1981.
Only last September, Östberg had her fourth request for parole turned down.
