Better Service After Government Help?
The Swedish Social Insurance Agency will receive more than 70 million US dollars extra from the government.
Recently the agency has been under heavy media fire for being too slow, forcing many to wait several months for benefits payments.
In 2005 the agency went through a major reorganisation to streamline its services, but few of the expected gains have actually materialized.
The Social Insurance Agency had asked the government for almost 120 million dollars to make their services more effective, but will now have to make do with half that sum.
But in interview with Swedish Radio News, the head of the Agency, Adriana Lender, says that they are very happy with the result.
