More Swedish Ships in Anti-Pirate Force
The head of the European Union’s anti-piracy mission off the coast of Somalia says that Sweden will be sending more ships.
Captain Juan Garat Carame says in a Spanish Defence Ministry statement: “Thee Swedish navy warships and a German navy patrol airplane will shortly reinforce the existing European force made up of eight ships and two planes.”
The EU anti-piracy mission, its first-ever naval operation, began operations in December. Spain took over command of the mission from Britain earlier this year. (gw)
