EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT

Legal Protection for File-Sharers

Published onsdag 22 april 2009 kl 10.16

Late Tuesday night, the standing industrial committee of the European Parliament almost unanimously turned down a French proposal that would have banned suspected file-sharers from accessing the Internet.

Parliamentarians instead demand that alleged file-sharers have to face a proper trial before they can be cut off from the Web.

Lena Ek, Swedish EU-Parliamentarian for the Centre Party, told Radio Sweden afterwards what implications Tuesday’s decision will most likely have on the final voting in parliament in May.
