On Thursday, Denmark’s new Prime Minister, Lars Lökke Rasmussen, made his inaugural visit to Sweden. Traditionally, the first foreign visit of a new Danish prime minister goes to neighbouring Sweden. In Stockholm, Rasmussen met with his Swedish counterpart Fredrik Reinfeldt to exchange views on various issues.

Both politicians agreed on working together tightly during Sweden’s upcoming EU-chairmanship and during the preparations for the United Nations climate summit to be held in Copenhagen in December.

The Prime Ministers also signed an agreement on the so-called European Spallation Source – a super microscope which is planned to be built in the southern Swedish university city of Lund. (ah)
