A BBC television series based on the Swedish detective stories about Police Commissioner Kurt Wallander has won the award for best drama at the British BAFTA-gala - the equivalent of the Hollywood Oscars.

British actor Kenneth Branagh has been highly praised for his portrayal of the police man created by Swedish author Henning Mankell.

The series is to be screened here in Sweden later this year.
