Minister Criticized for Pirate Bay Comments
Sweden's Culture Minister has been reported to the Parliamentary Committee on the Constitution for breaking ministerial rules. At a dinner earlier in the week Lena Adelsohn Liljeroth said she was pleased at the outcome of the Pirate Bay trial, where the people behind the file-sharing site were convicted of breaking copyright laws.
According to Swedish law ministers are not allowed to get involved in the working of the courts or government agencies, or even to comment on what they do.
Opposition Green Party MP Max Andersson says that's exactly what the minister has done when commenting on the on-going court case, which is now going through an appeal process. He now wants the Committee to investigate whether the minister has broken any rules by her off the record comments.(kb)
