Diabetes Increases Among Children
According to new research, the number of young children in Europe with type 1 diabetes will double over the next ten years.
The study, published in the British medical journal “The Lancet” blames changes in lifestyles, not least sugar in food. In Sweden and Finland the number of children with type 1 diabetes has already doubled over the past twenty years.
According to Professor Gisela Dahlquist of Umeå University, one of the researchers involved in the study, one of the most worrying aspects is that infants are getting diabetes at an increasing rate.
