Green Pill to Help You Feel Full Longer

Published tisdag 2 juni 2009 kl 10.40
The key is in the spinach

A pill which makes you feel full for longer can be made out of ordinary spinach. Research carried out at Lunds University in southern Sweden has now tested the pill on humans - with good results.

It is the substance thylokoid in ordinary spinach that has been found to help people feel full for longer, as well as lower their blood sugar and blood fat. During a pilot study, a group of overweight people - who otherwise continued eating as normal - had lower blood fat and had lost an average of two kilos after four weeks.

The researchers envision people in the future eating thylokoids in various forms. So far, they have tried putting it into biscuits, in shots and pies, even as a spread to put on your sandwich.
