Swedes Celebrated National Day

Published lördag 6 juni 2009 kl 14.20

Saturday saw the celebration of Sweden’s national day with events all over the country. Crown Princess Madeleine kicked off celebrations by inviting citizens to visit the royal castle in downtown Stockholm.

Throughout the day celebrities and average Swedes marked this special day with music, parades and blue and yellow balloons.

Several political demonstrations also took place – with xenophobe National Democrats trying to spread their message in Södertälje, south of Stockholm, while the Network against Racism rallied in the capital.
