EU Election

Low Turnout Expected

Published söndag 7 juni 2009 kl 15.04

Voting in the elections to the European Parliament has started with many polling stations hardly frequented by voters. Since 8:00 a.m. 7,088,045 Swedes (and other EU citizens) are called to the polls to elect Sweden’s 18 representatives in the coming EU Parliaments in Brussels and Strasburg. 844,968, or 12 percent of the electorate, have already made their choice by postal vote. Polling stations close at 9:00 p.m., that’s when Swedish Television will reveal their exit polls. The official figures by the Swedish Election Authority will not be published before 10:00 p.m. due to the ongoing election in other EU member states. Stay with Radio Sweden! We’ll cover the election and the results throughout the evening!
