Children Better Swimmers than Adults
Children are better swimmers than adults, a new survey by the Swedish Life Saving Society shows. 94 percent of all five-year-olds have the skills to swim 200 metres in deep water, which is the definition for the ability to swim in Sweden.
At the same time, an estimated 2.2 million of adults in this nation of 9 nine million cannot swim such a distance, the survey states. The Life Saving Society explains the better swimming skills of children with schools’ harder requirements. According to the curriculum in elementary schools, children are supposed to show that they can swim a certain distance.
