What happened to file-sharing?

CD Sales Up

The new record store

Swedish Radio’s P3 News reports that CD sales here rose by 14 percent during the first five months of the year.

This comes despite dire warnings from the record industry that illegal file-sharing is destroying their business. It’s not the little corner music store that’s doing well, however, nor the big chains. The big increase in CD sales comes at gas stations.

The head of music for Statoil says they’ve seen 200 percent growth in sales between January and May.
