Hägglund: "I will miss him"

Published torsdag 11 juni 2009 kl 15.00

In reactions to Lars Leijonborg's resignation, coalition partner and Minister for Health and Social Affairs Göran Hägglund praised Leijonberg's "knowledge and new ways of thinking", "I will miss him", he told Swedish news agency TT.

The opposition Social Democratic spokesman on cultural issues, Leif Pagrotsky, says that Leijonborg did a good job in getting the ESS research facility to Sweden.

But Student Union leaders were less warm in their praise. Vice-Chairman of the Stockholm Federation of Student Unions Love Hansson says Leijonborg was a failure as Minister for Higher Education, as he failed to deliver his promise to raise the level of student grants, and also scrapped the law meaning that students have to be members of student unions while at university.
