Power Plant Woes for Vattenfall
Flaws in the safety routines at one of Sweden's biggest nuclear plants will lead to a special investigation by the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority.
The four reactors at Ringhals, near Gothenburg, produce one fifth of all Sweden's electricity and are the largest electricity plant in the Nordic region. They are run by the state energy company Vattenfall, which runs all of Sweden's nuclear facilities.
This kind of special investigation by the Radiation Authority has only happened twice in Sweden before. But in Germany, a nuclear plant also run by Vattenfall has been closed down after a short circuit - and now German politicians and newspapers are calling for this plant to be shut down for good.
