Skinnarmo's Expedition Through the Northeast Passage
Ola Skinnarmo, the Swedish explorer and adventurer, took off with his team of expert sailors on an expedition to explore the Northeast Passage in the middle of June.
The journey is expected to take them 6000 nautical miles and the aim is to follow in the 19th century Swedish explorer Adolf Erik Nordenskiöld’s footsteps and to gather observations of the changing climate in the Arctic due to global warming.
This week they are scheduled to reach their first destination – Svalbard in the Arctic Circle. Radio Sweden’s Ulla Engberg was at the launch of the expedition.
