Child Snatch Mum Gets Jail

Published fredag 10 juli 2009 kl 15.38

A Swedish woman who abducted her two children and kept them away from their dad in Australia has been convicted to 10 months imprisonment by a Swedish court.

The mother lost custody of the children in a court case in 2004 following a divorce, but at the end of a holiday to Sweden last Autumn she refused to let them return home to their dad in Australia, and went underground.

Police later found her and the children, and the kids were reunited with their father.

She has now been sentenced to the prison sentence as well as damages to her ex and the children worth US$18 000.
