EU Ministers Meeting

Supporting Victims of Crime

Swedish Minister for Justice Beatrice Ask at Friday’s ministerial meeting in Stockholm

Meeting in Stockholm Friday, European Union Justice Ministers discussed support for victims of crime.

The Swedish EU Presidency says there was agreement that victims should be offered greater support.

Swedish Radio News reports that the ministers, however, are not satisfied with the current system of arrest orders and extraditions to other EU countries, Some countries reportedly use the system far too often for minor crimes, while others don’t take advantage of the law at all.

The justice ministers meeting followed a meeting of home affairs ministers on Thursday.
