LGBT Education for Migration Board

Published fredag 24 juli 2009 kl 12.15
Sweden's Migration Board

The Swedish Migration Board has started a project to educate its administrators about LGBT issues. The initiative, which is financed by EU funds, will include information on how homosexual, bisexual, and transsexual asylum seekers should be treated.

The Migration Board already has a group that works with LGBT issues, but the new project will expand its focus even further. The project group will map current LGBT information, research how asylum proceedings involving LGBT people are pursued in other European countries, and later inform the public at next week’s Stockholm Pride Festival. In the project’s last phase, Migration Board administrators will be educated in issues affecting LGBT people throughout the world.

The project will continue through the end of the year.
