When the informal meeting of European Union environment ministers discussed the upcoming global climate talks in Copenhagen, there was unexpected agreement.
As the meeting in the northern Swedish town of Åre wound up Saturday, Swedish Environment Minister Andreas Carlgren told a press conference that the ministers were all behind the promise to reduce EU carbon emissions by 30 percent.
The EU is also prepared to finance greenhouse gas reductions among developing countries, but not until those countries present more ambitious goals, Carlgren said.
