The Hetero Norm Questioned at Stockholm Pride

Published tisdag 28 juli 2009 kl 15.33
Pride kicked off with lots of kissing in the centre of Stockholm

This week saw the start of the Stockholm Pride Festival in Sweden. Monday evening almost 16,000 people had gathered in Kungsträdgården in central Stockholm to see the inauguration gala.

This year’s Pride festival centres around what could be a suprising theme – its called HETERO.

But in this case Hetero is short for Hetero normativity, focusing on how the heterosexual norm affects LGBT persons’ every day life - as well as that of society as a whole. Radio Sweden spoke to the Stockholm Pride Festival’s Chairperson, Claes Nyberg, to find out more.
