Ex-Art Student on Trial for Suicide Hoax

Sankt Göran's Psychiatric Ward

A former art student went on trial on Monday at Stockholm’s district court for publicly faking a suicide attempt as part of a so-called art project. The 35-year-old woman is charged with resisting police officers, disturbing the peace, creating a public nuisance, and causing false alarm.

In January of this year the woman had pretended to plan taking her life by jumping off a Stockholm bridge. She had then attacked police officers who had been called to the scene. After being taken to the psychiatric ward of a hospital, she continued to behave unnormally, so she had to be restrained. Only later she told doctors that the whole matter was a hoax in the name of art.
