A deal which could allow Croatia to complete the application process by early 2010 is close, according to ministers meeting here in Stockholm.

EU Enlargement Commissioner Olli Rehn says he is hopeful that the border dispute between Slovenia and Croatia is close to being solved.

He told journalists that he thinks that there is the political will from both countries to reach a deal shortly, and he was optimistic a deal could be reached by spring 2010.

Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Jandrokovic was equally optimistic, "I believe that Croatia and Slovenia will very soon find a 'win-win' solution" he said.
