Social Welfare Increases in Sweden
The Swedish social welfare board maintains that welfare payments have increased by 16% during the 2nd quarter of this year - compared to the same period last year.
Only 25 of the nation's 290 local governments reported a decrease in welfare payments.
The increase in social welfare payments is explained by rising unemployment - especially in the sluggish automobile industry and the companies supplying equipment and parts.
Welfare payments for refugees increased in general by 4 % in this Nordic nation. But one local government in northern Sweden opening the doors more generously to refugees reports an increase in welfare payments by over 700%.
