Henke Announces Football Retirement

One of the biggest names in Swedish football has announced his retirement from the game.

38 year old legend Henrik "henke" Larsson will bring down the curtain on his glittering career on November the first when his hometown club Helsingborg play their last game of the Allsvenskan season against Elfsborg. A week ago Larsson announced that he was finally retiring for good from the International scene after coming out of retirement on a number of occasions to help the Swedish national side.

In his long career, the striker left the Allsvenskan in 1993 to play in Holland with Feyenoord where he was spotted by Glasgow Celtic , a club "henke" was to enjoy great success at the height of his career, scoring 242 goals in 315 matches and where he's still loved by the Celtic fans. He then moved to Barcelona where he won two titles before returning home to Helsingborg in 2006, seemingly to wind down his career but then in a shock move, Larsson switched on loan to the English Premiership and champions Manchester United where he was again a big hit with the fans before finally returning to Helsingborg.

At International level, Larsson was a member of the famous Swedish side that took bronze in the 1994 World Cup in the States.

On Tuesday he sent out his retirement message through his agenst firm Sport promotion. For the future, Larsson has spoken of continuing life in football as a trainer.
