The average young adult in Sweden wants two children

The average Swede wants to start a family, with two children seen as the ideal number to complete the happy family picture.

Statistics Sweden says in its "having children or not " survey , its researchers found that starting a family is important for the country's seven thousand young adults questioned with most keen to have children in the future with two seen as ideal, currently the common average amongst Swedish women.

Among those questioned, many with one child already believed that they will have another, while the majority of those with two do not believe that they will have more.

Many women and men over 35 and without children stated that they tried to get pregnant but did not succeed
