Bankruptcies Increase in Sweden
New statistics here show that private company bankruptcies increased by 25% last year - compared with 2008.
Forecasts predict an improvement in the sluggish economy, but still estimate that bankruptcies will increase by 5% this year.
At the same time, 40% of the private companies in Sweden say they foresee better times ahead and plan on hiring more employees – a good sign for a Sweden struggling with an official 8% unemployment.
While some Swedish harbors report a clear increase in economic activities over the last year, the nation’s ports on the whole have seen a general cutback.
The west coast port of Gothenburg saw a boost in the last half of the year after a sluggish beginning, but the northern port of Luleå witnessed a 40% reduction.
