Stenson Gives Europe Victory
In golf, Sweden’s Henrik Stenson made the winning putt as Europe regained the Royal Trophy from Asia Sunday.
Playing at Thailand’s Amata Spring Country Club, the Swede came back from three holes down after 10 against Thailand’s Thongchai Jaidee to earn a half point and the win for Europe. The world number 7 sunk a seven foot putt at the final hole.
It was a repeat of Europe’s triumph in the first Royal Trophy in 2006, when Stenson beat Thongchai in the final match for overall victory. Europe also won in 2007, but lost to Asia 10-6 last year.
