Poland Wants Swede Extradited

Published onsdag 13 januari 2010 kl 19.55

Poland will demand that the Swede believed to be involved in the theft of the Auschwitz sign be extradited, according to Polish TV channel TVN24.

The former Swedish Nazi leader is suspected of instigating the theft, according to News Agency AFP, quoting TVN24.

Prosecutors also demand that a Polish Court decide whether the man should be taken into custody so that a European warrant for his arrest can be issued.

Agneta Hilding Qvarnström at the International Public Prosecution Office in Sweden has been handling Poland’s request for legal assistance in the matter. However, being out of her office on Wednesday she hasn’t received such a warrant yet.

“But if the reports are true, I expect it will turn up. I am certain I will be informed, “said Agneta Hilding Qvarnström to Swedish news agency TT.

Swedish lawyer, Peter Althin, who has been in contact with the suspected Swede, told TT that he had heard nothing of these latest events.
