More Fish at Wind Power Park

Published onsdag 20 januari 2010 kl 11.54

A marine study of fish in the waters around Sweden's first sea-based wind power park in the waters between Sweden's southwest coast and Denmark shows that fish have not been scared away - but have even increased in number - especially the threatened eel.

And stocks of cod fish which have been diminishing elsewhere in the region and in the Baltic Sea on Sweden's eastern side have maintained their numbers.

One explanation might be the extra protection around the bases of the wind power turbines - and more food in the waters there.
