Priority to Refugees from Somalia and Eritrea
Swedish Radio News reports that this year Sweden is to give priority to asylum seekers from Somalia and Eritrea. They are to be included among the 1700 and 1900 annual so-called “quota refugees” chosen by the Swedish Migration Board together with the United Nations.
Around 850 refugees, currently in camps in Kenya, Sudan, and Libya, will be coming to Sweden.
Dan Eliasson, head of the Migration Board tells Swedish Radio News that Eritrea is ruled by a totalitarian regime, while Somalia is on its way to imploding.
Last year priority was given to quota refugees from Iraq.
