Saab "Spyker" Deal Rumoured to be Close
Media reports on Monday suggest that Dutch luxury car maker Spyker is close to taking over Swedish car maker Saab with speculation rife that a deal may be finalised today.
Since last Friday, Spyker Chief Executive Victor Muller has been involved in talks in Stockholm with representatives from the government and Saab's owners General Motors, who are simultaneously continuing with their winding down proceedings of the Swedish company.
After several failed bids, Swedish television news SVT reports that Spyker has upped its offer to 500 million US dollars with the Dutch carmaker attracting new financial backing, which has been welcomed by GM. Some 3,500 jobs are at stake at Saab's Trollhättan plant in West Sweden.
