Pig Farmer to Face Court Charges?

Published måndag 25 januari 2010 kl 18.12

It looks like a Swedish pig farmer accused of neglecting his animals will be brought to trial after all - since animal rights activists first refusing to reveal their identities have decided to start legal proceedings.

The activists filmed conditions at some pig farms where animals were found wallowing in their own excrement and eating the flesh of dead pigs left in the stalls.

The reports sparked a nation-wide outrage with many Swedes saying they would refuse to buy ham for the traditional Christmas dinners.

92 pig farmers have been reported for the cruel treatment of their animals, but the farmers' associations have rejected the charges.
