Trollhättan Celebrates Spyker News
Inhabitants of the western Swedish town of Trollhättan were celebrating late Tuesday evening after US auto giant General Motors confirmed that it will sell its ailing Swedish brand Saab to Dutch sportscar maker Spyker. “It will be great to go to work on Wednesday”, Swedish Radio news quoted Saab employees as saying.
The 3,500 employees at the Saab plant in Trollhättan reacted hesitantly when the first news broke about Spyker allegedly buying Saab Tuesday afternoon. But after the news was confirmed, union representatives and employees celebrated what many hope will be the necessary rescue of the auto industry in western Sweden. We’ll have more news on Saab throughout the day!
