Millions Embezzled from Tax Agency
An administrator at the Swedish Tax Agency has been arrested for embezzling upwards of 16 million US dollars over a period of five years, Channel 4 Economy News reports. Two more people have been remanded in the affair, which reports say involved transactions with VAT, also known as sales tax.
Anders Kylesten, head safety manager at the office in Stockholm where the embezzlement is said to have occurred, confirmed that the man had been taken into custody on Friday last week.
"Information [about his arrest] has been received with distress here at the Swedish Tax Agency," Kylesten told the television show.
The man readily denies all the accusations.
