Ex-doctors Appeal "No Damages" Ruling

Published torsdag 11 mars 2010 kl 11.54

In one of Sweden's most sensational legal trials, two ex-doctors have now appealed a lower court's ruling giving them no compensation for what they claim has been ruined careers and destroyed lives.

The two were accused of murdering a prostitute and chopping up her body in the middle of the 80's.

The men are demanding some 6 million US dollars in damages and court costs.

Some critics claim this is one of Sweden's most poorly conducted trials series ever based on circumstancial evidence and with many mistakes made in the still unsolved murder case. Both men were found guilty of dismembering the body but not the murder itself.

Despite their "not guilty" pleas, the authorities refused to return their licenses to practice medicine.
