Film Censorship to Be Abolished
The Swedish government has proposed ending film censorship here.
The legislation would retain the current age classification system for movies, but would prevent the censors from banning films or removing parts of them. A new agency would replace the current film censors, and would be responsible for setting age classifications.
The last time a film was censored in Sweden was “Casino” in 1995. The proposal now goes to the Council on Legislation to make sure that it complies with the constitution.
