Wage Negotiations Run into Trouble

Published söndag 14 mars 2010 kl 16.22

Wage negotiations between employers and trade unions came in for a bumpy ride over the weekend. Several of compromise proposals presented by the negotiators in various sectors were rejected, either by employers or trade unions.

Among them, the trade union that organises workers in the food industry, Livsmedelsarbetareförbundet. In a press release, the chairman of the union, Hans-Olof Nilsson called the bid from the negotiators "a sheer provocation" and said that they are taking the first steps to prepare for a strike.

A great number of national wage negotiations are currently taking place, since many of the existing collective wage agreements expire by the end of the month.
