Retail Tariff Negotiations Collapsed
The risk of a strike in Sweden’s retail industry during the Easter holiday is increasing after tariff negotiations between the retail union Handelsanställdas Förbund and the employer organization Svensk Handel collapsed. According to the head of the retail union, Lars-Anders Häggström, both partners were unable to reach an agreement despite six weeks of negotiations.
The head of the retail employers pointed out that the collapse of the negotiations was due to the fact that no binding tariff agreements have been reached for the entire industry. The collective bargaining partners will hold internal meetings on Monday to discuss the further procedure. It is widely expected that this could lead to a strike around the Easter weekend.
