Swedish Tourism To Keep On Growing
The Swedish tourism industry will continue to grow next year, according to a new prognosis released by branch organization RTS. Despite that business trips to the country have plummeted since the financial crisis began two years ago, leisure travelers more than made up for the loss in profits in 2009.
Now, RTS predicts, the Swedish tourism industry will expand an additional three percent next year, with a total turnover of about 35 billion US dollars.
By 2020, Sweden’s tourism will be worth double that, RTS president Jan Lundin told Swedish Radio News.
“We have well-known trademarks that are internationally competitive, everything from Åre to our big cities, the Ice Hotel and other well known names. What we have to look at now is how to help more products develop,” Lundin said.
