Work Important Election Issue, Poll Says

A new opinion poll commissioned by Swedish Radio reveals that work and employment will be the most important or among the most important election issues this year.

When asked which political party has the best work policies, nearly a third said the Moderates, which head the current center-right government. But uncertainty was quite high—41 percent of those surveyed said that they didn’t know which party had the best policies.

Health care came in as the second most important election issue, while education occupied the third spot.

Only three percent said that immigration was among the election’s most significant issues, although immigration seemed to be more important in certain segments of the population: eight percent of men aged 50 to 64 ranked it highest on the list.

Swedes will go to the polls on September 19 this year to decide who will control the government for the next four years.
