Tomato Gene against Cancer

Published fredag 26 mars 2010 kl 16.18

Swedish scientists might have found a way to cure cancer with the help of tomato genes. Speaking to Swedish Radio news, Professor Jure Piskur of the University of Lund in southern Sweden said he his optimistic that the treatment can help slow down the growth of tumors and in the end might even eradicate them.

According to Piskur the tomato genes turn into an efficient anti-cancer remedy if they are combined with anti-HIV-drugs. “In five years time we might be able to treat tumor patients on that basis”, said Piskur. But before the treatment would become reality more tests would have to be run and that would cost money, added the scientist.
