Public Invited To Congratulate Royals

Published lördag 5 juni 2010 kl 13.09

The public are invited to give their best wishes to the soon-to-be-married royal couple in Stockholm on Saturday, but interest has been weak at best and coincidental at worst. People began trickling in when the castle doors opened at 10 o'clock this morning, but many of them just happened by after seeing a sign advertising the event.

But Edith Gober from Austria was happily surprised by the possibility of writing directly to the Crown Princess Victoria and her fiancé Daniel Westling, and nearly filled an entire paper with her congratulations.

"I think it's a fantastic idea," she told news agency TT.

Diplomats in Sweden also have the chance to send the couple their best wishes today, but only a few have taken to the idea, probably because many already did so when the banns were announced this past week.
