Sweden Builds World's Tallest Turbines
The world’s tallest wind turbines are being built outside of Piteå in northern Sweden as part of a pilot project to determine if they’re economically defensible, Swedish Radio New reports. The two turbines will stand 138 meters (453 feet) tall, 30 meters (98 feet) taller than the country’s tallest turbines currently in use.
Building the turbines will require expertise from German firms and specially-made trucks to carry the necessary loads. The two giants are set to be done by 2020.
